1. Everyone who is going to use the DotNet needs to install the TroopMaster/PackMaster program either from the cd or from the download link at: http://www.troopmaster.com/download. You will need your unit (pack or troop) number, license key, and your expiration date in order to install the program.



2. After you have finished the installation, you should check to make sure that you are using the latest version of your program. If the version number listed on the Help >About dialog in the program is earlier than the current version listed on our web site, please run the free update to bring your system up to date. If you are using an older version of the program, DotNet may not be able to connect to our FTP server.



3. Use the File->TroopMaster/PackMaster DotNet option to enter your DotNet settings. First, click the Activate DotNet checkbox at the top of this screen. If you are using our server, select the dotnet.troopmaster.com option from the dropdown list. If you are using your own server, you should enter the address to your FTP site.

   You will next need the both the User ID and the FTP password. If you use our server, the User ID is assigned by us and the FTP password will be a random combination of letters and numbers. Both this User ID and the Password are case sensitive, so you must enter them exactly as shown in the original email we sent. The User ID and FTP password will also be the same for all members accessing the files. Finally, check the Passive Mode (PASV) checkbox, and enter a forward slash (i.e., ‘/’) for the web data path (or leave this field empty and the program will fill it in for you). You should enter your name/contact information in the Contact Information section at the bottom of this screen. NOTE: The contact information must be unique for each machine connecting to DotNet.

   If you are the administrator, click the Initialize button to upload your files to the site for the first time. Otherwise, simply click OK to connect to the site and download the files that have already been uploaded by your administrator. NOTE: If you already have files on your FTP site, these files must be deleted before you can replace them with the new files. Please check with the administrator before attempting to delete or initialize any files on your site.




4. If your administrator has defined a Data Encryption Password, you will be prompted for the encryption password at this time. The encryption password will be the same for all members accessing the database. This password is also case-sensitive so it must be entered exactly as defined by the administrator. The administrator can check this setting by clicking the Encryption Password button on the File>Database Management dialog.



5. If you have been assigned a specific Data Access Password, you will be prompted to enter this password to access the database. This password is also case sensitive, so you must type it exactly as defined by your administrator. The administrator can check this setting on the File>Database Management dialog.



6. If you have a firewall, you may need to disable it or set it to allow TroopMaster/PackMaster as an exception. If you do not know how to do this with your firewall, please contact the manufacturer of your firewall/security software for support with your specific program.
